Chapter Forty:

Here's Chapter Forty of Dark Side of the Moon. Ana is our sixth heir, and she and her her twins Noah and Evelyn have just taken their father's last name Dare. Lucas Dare was off being leader of the pack to one of the biggest gangs of werewolves in Twinbrook, and this meant that he has never met his kids.

Ana loved Lucas and it was hard to watch him leave again. But spending time with her kids could just be what she needed to ease her aching heart.

Soon it was Noah and Evie's birthday. The family celebrated with just the three of them in the kitchen.

Evie was so much like her mum. Her wild blue hair and purple eyes made her the spitting image of her alchemist mother.

While Noah was more like his missing father.

Evie was like her mother in more than looks. Flicking through old alchemy books was Evie's preferred past time.

Ana tended to her garden every morning. It was well established by now and she was well known for growing the best alchemy ingredients in town.

Noah suffered the same curse as his father and while he wasn't always thrilled with it, he wanted to be prepared.

The weeks began to trickle by and Evie and Noah settled in as teens.

Evie loved every minute that she spent with her head buried in her mother's ancient alchemy books.

Soon the morning of the full-moon was upon the house. This would be the first time that Noah was a teenager when he was forced into a transformation by the power of the moon.

Evie was a little worried about her brother. He never talked to his sister about what he felt as a werewolf, and she just hoped he'd be ok that night.

It was a Sunday so the kids weren't at school and Noah decided to rest up before the moon rose. He had no idea what he was going to do as a werewolf that night, but he figured it would be harder than before to ignore his natural instincts and run wild.

Noah's heart was in his mouth as he felt that feral feeling creep into him.

Ana and Evie were watching tv in the living room when they heard Noah's ferocious howl.

Their normally quiet and easy-going Noah stalked past them with that terrifying grimace on his face, out into the night.

The moon was a beautiful sight over Twinbrook that night. Most of the town had retreated to bed and only the wolves roamed tonight. Their howls pierced the quiet town as they enjoyed the one night that was just for them.

Feeling the wind rush through his hair exhilirated this teen wolf as he raced from his family home.

Ana had always hated the full moon and she never slept. As a child her father would wait up with her, telling her the moon would soon set and a new day would begin. As a young adult Ana would wait with bated breath as her man controlled the unruly group of werewolves in the town. And now, Ana laid in bed waiting for her son to return. As the night wore on Ana grew more and more worried.

Noah's feral instincts took over and lead him all over town. He was on the hunt and he loved the feeling of tracking down rare items buried deep.

But is Noah's late night race through town about to end badly?

And will the budding alchemist or the quiet werewolf become the seventh heir to this ancient family?
