Will wasn't thinking about Eddie. All he was thinking about was Chloe's gorgeous eyes. And so, after telling each other how they felt, they snuck home in the wee hours of the morning, each promising that they wouldn't tell Eddie.
Maggie was up when her oldest grandson snuck home. She didn't ask him where he had been, or why Chloe had kissed him goodbye at the gate. She just hoped he wouldn't break anyone's heart.
As the weeks went by, the affair continued. Will and Chloe had to keep their meetings away from the main town.
There was a secluded hill overlooking the small town of Twinbrook. No one else went up there, so there was no chance of Eddie finding out.
The hill wasn't as secluded as they hoped. Every now and then paparazzi followed the blue young man, to try and get some gossip for the town. But Will, at nearly eighteen years old, was looking and acting more and more like the intimidating vampire he would become. One look into Will's scary glowing eyes and the young photographer promised to never speak a word of what she saw.
Before long, Will was about to turn 18. As he blew out the candles on his cake, the curse his grandmother had unwillingly unleashed on her family, took hold.
Will was the kind of young vampire to fear. He had inherited his grandmother's ruthless glare and hoped he could become half the vampire that she was.
The lair under the house had a new addition that afternoon. Will was now on the same schedule as his grandmother. He stuck by her side those first few months to get used to his curse.
Maggie taught her grandson in a more practical sense now. While before she could only talk to him about what their curse meant, she could now show him all the benefits to being one of the undead.
Although Raven had not had much to do with the raising of her sons, as she neared the end of ther adult years, she took out her frustration at having missed her boys childhood on Maggie. Raven had missed her tiny little babies grow into vampires and blamed Maggie for it. Maggie accepted Raven's anger, she understood how difficult it must be for Raven.
Will loved his new life by Maggie's side. He finally felt like he belonged to something.
Although he was young, the other vampires in the coven accepted this new comer and pretty soon Will was settling into life as a vampire.
The months wore on. Eddie and Raven felt like they lived alone, sometimes. Will and Maggie would rise as the others were going to bed and be safe underground before the sun rose every morning. The only tell tale sign they lived in the house during the night was the empty plasma juice bottles scattered around the kitchen.
Soon enough Raven was celebrating the end of her adult years.
It was a little depressing that while she showed her age, her family would remain forever young. But Raven knew that she would be back with her sweetheart one day soon.
Knowing that time was getting short, Raven worked on a bunch of sculptures to set aside for future generations to sell when they were worth a lot more. Her favourite medium lately was never melting ice. Something she had only just discovered.
Eddie talked to Raven a lot about Finn and his quest for the cure to vampirism over the next few weeks as his eighteenth birthday loomed closer.
Eddie didn't really celebrate his coming of age. He dreaded the moment when the curse would take over, and didn't really feel the need to celebrate it. But he had his family gathered in the living room as he jumped into adulthood.
Maggie and Will were proud of Eddie, Raven was worried. But Eddie was a little hopeful that he could cure what his father couldn't.
Eddie did look remarkably like his father.
Raven knew her time was limited. Her kind didn't live long as elders and she spent as much time as she could catching up with her boys. Will and Eddie, however absent their mother had been in their childhood, loved her very much and treasured every moment they had with their quiet mother over the next few months.
Unlike his brother, Eddie didn't plan on being a vampire for long. So he continued to live the life he had always known. He was just super careful around the open windows and made sure he stayed indoors.
Eddie wasn't confined to the inside of the house, either. As long as he was careful in his trips outside, Eddie was able to continue his search for the cure to vampirism. He was getting closer and closer and he knew it couldn't be too much longer.
Maggie wasn't disaproving of Eddie's ambition to leave behind the curse, she admired him for it. And yet she knew she'd never accept any cure that he happened to find. She had long ago accepted what she was, and she knew her place.
Months and months went by. But one day Eddie got the call that they had found the cure to his curse. As he raced through the sunshine to the lab, he had no idea that things at home were changing forever.
Raven was moving on. She hadn't really spent long as an elder, but she knew she wasn't going to live as long as she might have. The heartbreak she had lived with most of her adult life took it's toll. At just 63 Raven Moon passed away. The house was shocked by the loss of their quiet Raven. Will, Maggie and Eddie were at a loss with what to do about Raven's ashes. So for now they sat next to Finn's in the basement.
Eddie felt the loss of his mother dearly. But he hadn't lost sight of his goal. Knowing that he had days left as a vampire he decided to make the most of it and worked on skills he thought he might need later on. Putting all heartbreak he felt over the loss temporarily out of his mind, Eddie focused all his efforts on what he would soon achieve.
A few days later, just as his grandmother and brother were retiring after a long night out in the town, Eddie mentally prepared himself for what he was about to do. The scientists said that there was about an 85% chance it would work, and a 15% chance it would... kill him. With an image of his beautiful Chloe in his mind, Eddie took a big gulp of the nasty tasting elixir.
All Eddie could think about was his parents and his lovely girlfriend. He was doing what his father could not so Chloe would have the man than Finn could never have been for Raven.
As luck would have it, Eddie survived. For the first time in his life, Eddie looked out through human eyes and the first thing he did with his new lease on life, was call Chloe.
Chloe came around as soon as she could, she loved Eddie and wanted to be with him, despite her feelings for his brother. She held her man in her arms, consoling him for the loss of his beloved mother and celebrating that he was free from the so-called curse. As Eddie leant his head against Chloe's shoulder, he knew he would spend his now curse-free, mortal life trying to make this beautiful young woman as happy as she made him.
