Welcome to Chapter Two. See the Chapter List above to catch up on the prologue and Chapter One or the backstory at the Summer Legacy Cheat sheet link. But I digress, here's Chapter Two of Dark Side of the Moon.
This chapter opens with an unsettling sight at the Moon residence. Very early one morning an unscrupulous local decided to take advantage of this new comer and see what sort of goodies were hidden behind the unlocked door.
Raven had only just gone to bed, after spending hours talking to Finn on the phone. The first person she thought to call when she heard the scrape of the door opening, was of course her beloved Finn. Finn assured his blue beauty that all would be ok, and that she had best hide. Perhaps out in the courtyard. What happened next Raven wouldn't be able to say. As she cowered outside in the small courtyard, a rushing wind sound signalled the arrival of her boyfriend, followed by a gasp, a stifled scream then silence. After she heard no more, Raven eventually went back inside. She never did hear what Finn had done, but that particular stealthy thief was never heard from again.
Raven was shaken by the attempted robbery and it took her a little while to settle back into her quiet routine.
Raven did eventually get her heart rate to calm down, but she did find she was far less trusting when telling the locals where in town she lived.
Finn took a few days to calm down after he dispatched with the theif, but soon he returned to his girlfriend side.
That night, as they took comfort in each other's company, Finn had a proposition for Raven. The scare with the robber had really got to him, and he thought it would be a good idea if he was closer to Raven, to protect her. Raven suggested that he move in. So it was agreed that Finn would move in with Raven. Now all they had to decide on was what to do with Maggie.
Finn talked with his mother about his decision to move in with Raven. Maggie agreed that it was safer for Raven if she wasn't alone, but she was reluctant to let her only son out of her sights. Finn suggested that she come with him.
Convincing his girlfriend to let his mother move in too wasn't Finn's favourite task, but Raven agreed. They came to the agreement to use some of Maggie's fortune to add an extension to the little cottage. Sort of like a vampire version of a granny flat began construction.
Raven was asked to spend her day out of the house while the extension was being done, so she went out into the community. A walk through the park, a swim in the community pool and a peaceful jog home again. Raven was excited to walk back through her door to her waiting live in boyfriend.
Finn welcomed Raven home in true romantic fashion, whisking her off her feet and ...... how shall I say this.... going at it, on the kitchen table. They were both so happy to have found each other.
Raven did wonder what extension was actually done to the house to accomodate the addition of the Queen of the Undead. Finn assured his girlfriend that his mother wouldn't be in their way too much and that she shouldn't worry about Maggie invading the house, she had her own area of the house.
Raven soon noticed an addition to her courtyard. An extra sort of room was added at the back. Unobtrusive Raven wondered how Maggie would be feeling living in an open air courtyard. But Maggie was, in fact, not living in a courtyard room, she had her very own lair.
Under the house there was now a whole new extension. Raven didn't dare go down there, but she was content knowing that Maggie had her own space and she and Finn could live their lives a little away from the piercing stare of the Queen of the Undead.
The household funds were pretty low, but there was enough to replace the single bed to allow Finn to sleep side by side with his beautiful Raven.
Maggie's lair was still a little unfinished, so she was up at the house a little for the first few weeks. She did like to keep her eye on her son, and she was still a little resistant to Raven.
Raven and Finn had different waking patterns, Finn awake at night and Raven awake during the day. But they managed to make it work. The weeks soon began to fly by and they were both blissfully happy.
Maggie was worried about Finn. She still didn't trust Raven, after all this young blue girl had single handedly replaced Maggie in Finn's affections. Finn tried to tell his strong willed mother that Raven had not stolen him from her, that he had found true love and he would always love his mother. But Maggie would not be swayed, however she did stop pestering Finn and the household settled into a nice routine.
And here ends Chapter Two. Thanks for reading everyone! Leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you!
Lol I think Finn is a bit of a momma's boy, or she just refuses to let her son "grow up" so to speak! Great chapter!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, I think Maggie's very reluctant to let her son go; he's all she's had for the past 100 years. Makes for interesting stories though!
DeleteWow, both Maggie and Finn are a little clingy, aren't they! Good to hear though that they are willing to make it work :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was going to have Maggie stay in her old house, but I just couldn't seperate her from her beloved son :D
