Chapter Four:

Welcome to Chapter four of Dark Side of the Moon. Things have been going quite well for our little family so far, until now...

Raven held her new son William Summer-Moon in her arms as she left the hospital. This was perhaps one of the happiest moments of her life.

Finn followed his fiance out of the hospital. His son shared both last names and Finn hoped his fiance would soon become a Summer in true.

Raven laid her son to sleep, in the new addition nursery. He had her blue skin, but it was still too early to see if he shared the dark birthmark on his neck that Finn and Maggie had.

Maggie was instantly smitten with little William. Aside from the blue skin he looked just like Finn did when he was that young. Maggie's memory was excellent, considering it was over 100 years ago that she had held her son in her arms.

Babies are expensive and Raven went back to work on her sculptures. They were still saving for the wedding and Raven hoped that she'd soon be married to her lovely fiance.

The weeks flew by and a routine settled in around William. Raven, Finn and Maggie all pitched in to raise him; he was well loved.

Finn and Raven were so proud of their tiny blue bundle of joy. But their worries about the curse of the vampire still plagued their thoughts. Sleep eluded both of them.

Unfortunately for Maggie she was always walking into the house after a run to find her son and his fiance in bed... not sleeping. Awkward.

It wasn't a suprise then, when Raven discovered she was pregnant.

Before she told anyone, it was William's birthday.

Maggie inspected her little grandson for signs of vampirism. The fears of his parents were confirmed when it was discovered that William had a tiny black mark on his little neck.

Maggie had long ago come to terms with her curse, and she had also accepted the responsibility of passing that curse to her beloved son. But when she saw her tiny little grandson with that mark on his neck, it broke her heart all over again. She vowed then and there to always support her little William in the difficult life he was to face.

Raven soon told her fiance and his mother about the new baby. They were all so excited of course. And yet again that small seed of fear began to work away in the back of the minds of all three.

While Raven was quite sick with this newest bub and Finn suffering quite severely from insomnia, Maggie took over most of the caring for young William. He was still too young to understand what being a vampire meant, but Maggie was going to be there for every question and every doubt and every insecurity that this little guy would have.

William was so much like his grandmother. He was going to be a force to be reckoned with when he took his place by her side as one of the living dead.

Finn was having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. And by alot, I mean A LOT. He hadn't slept for more than a few hours since before his son was born. He was so caught up in guilt over giving his son the curse he had fought with all his life. This insomnia was getting dangerous,  Finn found himself getting a little crispy when he didn't notice the sun had risen and had to walk back from the science facility (where he had been hanging around the past few months) in the bright glare of his worst enemy. Raven worried about her man.

Raven's little bump grew and grew. She was quite peaceful in her pregnancy, but her worries for her little William and her fiance meant she wasn't quite as peaceful as she ought to be.

Each morning Maggie and Finn returned from their night time escapades. Maggie was out and about in her coven, still playing a strong role as Queen of the Undead. Finn on the other hand was in close correspondence with a number of world renowned scientists trying desperately to find a cure for his curse. They had so far come up with nothing and Finn was getting desperate.

Tragedy struck the small household one morning. Maggie returned home, thinking her son was not far behind her. Little did she know he had passed out on the front lawn. Pure exhaustion got to Finn and he fell to the grass just as the sun was rising. In just a few short hours the sun took it's toll on his sensitive skin. By the time Raven noticed he was missing and went out to search for him, it was too late.

Raven could do nothing but watch on as her fiance's body crumbled to dust. Her entire world crashed down around her.

Hearing the screams of utter grief Maggie rushed outside. She quickly brought the distrught young girl inside. Raven was completely unaware of anything around her and Maggie tried to comfort her. But both women had hearts torn in two. Maggie had lost her beloved son, and Raven had lost the love of her life.

The baby kicked and they were both reminded that their was new life, Finn's unborn child, that would be needing love and attention. Maggie, although distraught, was able to bring her attention back to her granchildren, knowing she needed to be strong for their sakes. Raven, on the other hand, was too far gone to think of anything else except those beautiful golden eyes that she had fallen for.

As the days painfully passed Raven was as lost as ever. She could no longer remember her purpose and spent her days going from couch to bed. The baby continued to grow and the due date loomed closer.

Tears poured from Raven's blue eyes day after day. Maggie could do nothing for her, and worried what it meant for the children if Raven never recovered.

There were rare moments of clarity for Raven and she would hold her small son in her arms and for a few moments she could forget about her own pain.

One day she felt a different kind of pain. She snapped out of her depression long enough to take herself off to the hospital. Maggie would have loved to take her to the hospital, but the sun was up so she opted to stay behind with William.

As Raven walked into the hospital she couldn't help but remember watching Finn rush around in a panic when they had been here for William's birth.

The birth was hard, harder still that Raven was alone. But soon enough she was walking out holding her beautiful new son Edward Summer-Moon. He had his father's skin and eyes.

Raven laid her new son in his crib in the nursery he would share with his brother. Tragedy had struck this small family only 2 months earlier, but maybe this new addition could begin to heal the broken hearts and bring the odd little family back together.

Thanks for reading chapter four! What did you all think? Do you have any ideas for what Edward and William will do with their lives?
